The host of CNBC’s Mad Money and the co-founder of TheStreet.com, <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/investment-guru-jim-cramer-starts-taking-interest-in-bitcoin/">Jim Cramer</a> has announced on buying Bitcoin to diversify his investment portfolio. The purchase was made when the cryptocurrency’s price had dipped last week. The former hedge fund manager also expressed on buying more in case of a further dip. The CNBC host did not disclose the exact amount of BTC, however, he did mention buying the cryptocurrency between $17,000-$18,000 price levels.

Cramer mentioned buying the cryptocurrency for just under $18,000 during an <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBS1iW5KIj4" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">interview</a> with TheStreet.

<em>“Yeah, I just felt that back at $17,000 seemed like a decent level, and I will buy like I usually do as something comes down. I’ll get bigger and bigger and bigger."</em>

Cramer expects that the price of the world’s largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization will likely dip due to its volatility. He even expressed his desire to buy more of the cryptocurrency again in case it drops again:

<h2><strong>Cramer Sees Bitcoin As Tool For Portfolio Diversification</strong></h2>
The former hedge fund manager termed Bitcoin as a perfect tool for portfolio diversification while saying:

<em>“As an investor, you want to diversify into all sorts of asset classes. For me, it’s not about having a massive position, but it’s certainly important to be diversified and Bitcoin is an asset. And I want to have a balance of assets.”</em>

The recent boom in mainstream crypto awareness amid the price rallies indicates that Wall Street treats cryptocurrencies as an important asset for portfolio diversification.

Jim Cramer had previously been an outspoken critic of Bitcoin saying that the cryptocurrency will fade away soon. Cramer since being a guest on Bitcoin advocate Anthony Pompliano’s podcast in September said that he might invest 1% of his portfolio in Bitcoin.
