Coinbase, which is among the largest crypto exchanges across the world has <a href="https://blog.coinbase.com/our-focus-on-the-institutional-space-5c8e87332268?gi=f943f70589a2" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">hired </a>Brett Tejpaul. Tejpaul is a former Barclays executive who has served the firm for 17 years. Coinbase has hired him as a head of institutional coverage. This could be seen as a major step by the exchange towards the institutional market.

In his 17 years long career at Barclays, Tejpaul has played a major role in the firm. He was looking after both credit and commodities sales along with the digital innovation as well.
<h2>Coinbase could go way beyond trading cryptocurrencies</h2>
Tejpaul has said this in an interview that Coinbase can easily go way beyond the trading of only cryptocurrencies. It can deal in various products and services. He also said that the firm will continue trading along with other services also which will be there for fulfilling the customers' needs. Coinbase might also do something with stablecoin however, it is still not clear what it will exactly come up with. The firm is currently offering USDC stablecoins trading pairs to its users.
<h2>Redevelopment of institutional strategy </h2>
This step by Coinbase could be seen as renovating the institutional strategy after the two years. The company has now inclined more towards servicing the crypto native firms rather than Wall Street firms.

It has been almost a year that the company does not have its institutional coverage head. This is because Dan Romero, former institutional coverage head at Coinbase, left the company last year in April. Since then other team leaders of the firm have been looking after this particular section.

Tejpaul has also shown his excitement towards the growth which Coinbase has achieved in such a short span of time. He has also explained Coinbase as a platform which deals in a huge collection of products and services rather than only focusing on crypto trading.
