Moshe Hogeg, the Israeli crypto entrepreneur behind the blockchain smartphone startup Sirin Labs and a host of other crypto firms may not be charged on all counts, Israeli television <a href="https://www.timesofisrael.com/cryptocurrency-fraud-case-against-businessman-moshe-hogeg-very-weak-tv/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">reported</a> Sunday. According to court documents, Hogeg is suspected of 21 offenses, including money laundering, theft, and fraud, as well as crimes entailing sexual and moral turpitude.

Earlier Last month, Moshe Hogeg and seven other suspects including Hogeg’s former and current partners or employees were arrested as part of an <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/israeli-police-arrest-beitar-jerusalem-owner-plus-7-accused-in-multimillion-dollar-crypto-fraud/">Israel Police</a> operation on suspicion of involvement in an alleged massive fraud scheme related to <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/binance-drops-application-for-a-permit-to-administer-cryptocurrency-exchange-in-singapore/">cryptocurrencies</a>.

A statement published on the official Twitter page of the Israeli police last month said in Hebrew that <em>“eight suspects were arrested on suspicion of committing fraudulent offenses in the field of cryptocurrencies, amounting to hundreds of millions of shekels.”</em>

Police said that the suspects operated over a long period of time, <em>“in cooperation and in a systematic manner while defrauding investors in a number of projects in the field of cryptocurrencies,”</em> and that each suspect<em> “pocketed millions of shekels while making false presentations to potential investors to invest in seemingly profitable ventures.”</em>

Sources close to the investigation have now said that the fraud case against Hogeg was “very weak”, adding that they had a hard time believing that the suspicions would soon result in an indictment. Even if Hogeg gets indicted, the charge sheet could end up significantly smaller than the 21 suspected offenses which include money laundering and theft that he is being investigated over.

Concerning the suspected sex offenses, the sources said there was “strong evidence” against Hogeg, but that it would be difficult to charge him, as there is no complainant.
<h2><strong>Crypto Entrepreneur Denies All Accusations</strong></h2>
Currently, Hogeg remains in police custody and has denied all the accusations against him. In 2020, Hogeg was sued for $6 million over unpaid Sirin Labs bills. Earlier this year, two of Hogeg’s childhood friends and former employees sued him for $5.8 million for money owed over failed investments.

Offenses against Hogeg include conspiracy to commit a crime, falsifying corporate documentation, as well as a number of offenses related to sexual assault.
