Operation Dark Huntor, a three-continent multinational campaign to disrupt opioid trafficking on the <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/german-authorities-to-auction-off-bitcoin-confiscated-from-darknet-cybercrimes/">darknet</a>, has resulted in the arrest of 150 persons. 

The operation also resulted in the recovery of approximately $31.6 million in cash and cryptocurrencies, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
<h2>Operation Dark Huntor Results In 150 Arrests And The Seizure Of Cryptocurrency And Cash</h2>
The US Department of Justice (<a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/doj-is-reportedly-investigating-tether-executives-for-possible-bank-fraud/">DOJ</a>) <a href="https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/international-law-enforcement-operation-targeting-opioid-traffickers-darknet-results-150" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">stated </a>on Tuesday that "Operation Dark Huntor" had resulted in 150 arrests throughout the world. 

Furthermore, more than $31.6 million in cash and cryptocurrencies were seized.

The Department of Justice defined Operation Dark Huntor as an "organized multinational operation across three continents to disrupt opioid trafficking on the darknet." 

It was carried out in collaboration with the Joint Criminal Opioid and Darknet Enforcement (JCODE) and international law enforcement "against the unlawful selling of narcotics and other criminal products and services" across the United States, Australia, and Europe. Europol and Eurojust were in charge of coordination.

The Department of Justice stated:
“Operation Dark Huntor resulted in the seizure of over $31.6 million in both cash and virtual currencies.”

According to the announcement, the operation “resulted in the arrest of 150 alleged darknet drug traffickers and other criminals who engaged in tens of thousands of sales of illicit goods and services across Australia, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States."

The Justice Department also stated:
Prior to, but in support of Operation Dark Huntor, Italian authorities also shut down the Deepsea and Berlusconi dark web marketplaces which boasted over 40,000 advertisements of illegal products. Four alleged administrators were arrested, and €3.6 million in cryptocurrencies were seized in coordinated U.S.-Italian operations.
"Illicit dark web markets pose a major danger to public health, economic security, and national security," said Tae Johnson, Acting Director of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). 

Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and its partners are disrupting and dismantling transnational criminal organizations responsible for introducing dangerous narcotics and other contraband into our communities by working collaboratively and sharing intelligence across local, state, federal, and international law enforcement agencies."
