Crypto exchange FTX has appointed fashion and beauty entrepreneur Lauren Remington Platt as its head of global luxury partnerships in a bid to expand sponsorship opportunities with luxury brands.

Platt is the founder of Vensette, an on-demand beauty company where she launched partnerships with brands like Michael Kors, Vogue, Saks 5th Avenue, and Chopard.

FTX hopes that Platt’s appointment will help capitalize on the $300 billion luxury goods market, which is estimated to grow by almost $34 billion by 2025.

Luxury brands are seemingly jumping on the crypto bandwagon. For instance, Prada recently teamed with Adidas to launch an NFT, Ralph Lauren opened a 24/7 digital stores in the Roblox metaverse and Gucci formed partnerships with Superplastic to offer limited-edition NFTs.

In February alone, many brands filed for metaverse-related trademarks, including Victoria's Secret, Urban Decay, L'Oreal, Kiehl's, Pink, and Dermablend.
