The Winklevoss-Owned <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/crypto/cyber-security-veteran-joins-geminis-security-team/">Gemini</a>, a cryptocurrency exchange and custodian, announced the launch of Gemini Custody™, a qualified custodian. As confirmed in a <a href="https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/gemini-launches-gemini-custody-an-institutional-grade-crypto-custody-solution-300914461.html">press release</a>, it is an expanded state-of-the-art custody solution for cryptocurrencies.

Gemini Custody™ currently supports about 18 digital currencies. It is designed to meet the complex and high-stakes needs of modern financial institutions. 

"The maturation of crypto as an asset class depends heavily on the safety and soundness of the custodians that hold individual and institutional funds," the CEO of Gemini, Tyler Winklevoss noted.

Moving forward, the custodian stores customers cryptocurrency offline through multi-signature technology, hardware security modules (HSMs), and geographically distributed access-controlled facilities.

Gemini Custody™ allows users to trade their digital currencies in custody through the exchange without the need to move them out of cold storage. 

It also enables customers to secure their accounts with hardware security keys and restrict cryptocurrencies withdrawals to only the addresses they whitelist.

The new interface hosted by the Gemini Custody™ allows customers to download account statements, check balances, initiate withdrawals, and also to grant auditors view-only access to transactions, confirm balances, and activity. 

Another sub-account featured on the qualified custodian gives users the ability to make multiple accounts with distinct sets of users.

They can also manage account balances, and independently verifiable cryptocurrency addresses, under a single master account.

According to the Managing Director of Operations at Gemini, Jeanine Hightower-Sellitto:

Gemini Custody said to be the only crypto-native solution in the cryptocurrency community to meet the complex requirements without sacrificing any security or liquidity, according to Jeanine.

Meanwhile, the popular supported cryptocurrencies includes, Bitcoin, Ether, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Zcash, and ERC-20 tokens, such as, Augur (REP), Gemini dollar (GUSD), Dai (DAI), Basic Attention (BAT), Decentraland (MANA), Enjin (ENJ), and others.
