Actor Jim Carrey has become the latest celebrity to have caught on to the digital art craze by purchasing his first NFT on SuperRare from artist Ryan Koopmans.

Titled 'Devotion', the NFT was first purchased by <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/moonpay-raises-87m-from-justin-bieber-gwyneth-paltrow-among-others/">Moonpay</a>, a payment service for cryptocurrencies, and then transferred to Jim Carrey a day ago. The NFT was worth about 20 ETH at the time of purchase, which stands roughly over $36 million. Carrey even gave a shout-out to the artist behind the digital art in a recent tweet, signaling the purchase brings him his first NFT.

Carrey’s latest NFT purchase does not come as a surprise. In April, he announced that he will put an end to his increasingly sporadic acting career and instead will focus on his artistic talents and forthcoming NFT drop. Titled ‘Magic Hour,’ <strong>Carrey’s NFT collection</strong> will initially launch through a dedicated website. However, not much is known about the artworks, other than representing a mix of Jim’s own artwork and spoken word musings.

Carrey, who has over the years become disillusioned with Hollywood evangelism revealed a desire to distance himself from the industry. During an interview, the actor with a career spanning 40 years, revealed it would take something really special to lure him back to the silver screen.

“Hollywood is just spineless en masse,” he once said in an interview.
