Northern Data, the blockchain and high-performance computing company has recently made an <a href="https://northerndata.de/news/northern-data-acquires-bitcoin-miner-bitfield-n-v-to-become-a-leading-global-bitcoin-mining-company-with-some-33000-latest-generation-asic-miners/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">announcement</a> that it is going to acquire 33K ASIC by obtaining Bitfield. As revealed, the company believes that this acquisition will position the company as a leading mining company internationally.
<h2>Northern Data to Obtain 33K ASIC Miners Through Bitfield Accession </h2>
In accordance with a press release shared on September 27, all the major shareholders signed a binding buy agreement for the entire Bitfield enterprise to be sold at a value of approximately $460 million. 

As per the agreement, Northern Data will be acquiring an equity interest of between 86% and 100% in Bitfield as per the agreement. 

In addition to this, it should be noted that the company claims that it has become a leading global Bitcoin mining company by obtaining Bitfield, with the company gaining immediate access to 6,600 operational ASIC miners.

The Founder and CEO of Northern Data AG, Aroosh Thillainathan, said:
<blockquote>“With this acquisition, we add Bitcoin mining to our three existing businesses – Bitcoin hosting and services, Altcoin mining and Cloud Computing.”</blockquote>
Moreover, the company is expecting revenue to amount to around somewhere between $210 million and $260 million in the year 2021.
<h2>Crypto Crackdown in China and Bitcoin Mining Difficulty</h2>
Over the last two months, it has been witnessed that the <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/bitcoin-mining-difficulty-posts-yet-another-negative-adjustment-difficulty-rate-halved-since-mid-may/">bitcoin mining</a> difficulty has surged from a year low of 85 million terahashes per second on July 3 to 140 million on September 21. 

This has marked the highest level of difficulty noted since the month of June. At the time of writing this article, the total hash rate of the Bitcoin network is around 136 million. 

The difficulty in mining Bitcoin plunged after the initial <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/chinese-regulators-intensify-crackdown-against-cryptocurrencies/">crackdown</a> of crypto in China as the crypto miners left the network. The recent surge in the hashrate proves that the miners are getting back on track.
