Cryptocurrency exchange Okcoin is <a href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/okcoin-hires-former-facebook-spokesperson-randi-zuckerberg-to-grow-female-user-base-10808825">bringing</a> Randi Zuckerberg, the sister of Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg to join the platform’s brand advisory council in an effort to bring more women into crypto.

In addition to hiring Randi Zuckerberg, Okcoin would be committing $1 million in an attempt to reach 50% female customers by 2025, the <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/okcoin-says-altcoins-have-driven-institutional-interest-in-crypto-in-2021/">exchange</a> announced Thursday.

Randi Zuckerberg was the former director of market development and a spokesperson for <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/facebook-is-allowing-cryptocurrency-adverts-again/">Facebook</a> until she resigned in 2011. She’s also an investor, bestselling author, award-winning producer, and founder and CEO of Zuckerberg Media and the Zuckerberg Institute.

Her role at Okcoin includes allocating contributions to organizations, bringing more women into crypto, sponsoring women-run blockchain technology programs, supporting women-run crypto projects, and more.

<h2><strong>Crypto Industry has a Big Gender Problem</strong></h2>
With the latest hire, Okcoin will have key women leaders at the exchange, including CEO Hong Fang as well as head of content and brand Mandy Campbell. Just last year, CEO Fang said that the crypto exchange had seen a significant influx of women in 2020, with 50% of female users to the platform in the first quarter being new.
