VeChain Partners With Sam’s Club to Trace Food Products

VeChain, a supply chain management platform based on blockchain has partnered with Sam’s Club. Sam’s Club is a subsidiary firm of Walmart China and this partnership has been formed to trace the food products. With this partnership, there will be a complete transparency in the complete supply chain of food products.

It has been revealed that PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) will be playing a huge role in this collaboration of VeChain and Sam’s Club. This is because it will be helping Sam’s Club and ensure the safety of the food products.

Sam’s Club to utilize ToolChain platform of VeChain

Sam’s Club operates a total of 26 outlets in China and all the customers own the membership because without that it does not provide any service. It has been estimated that the customer base of the firm is more than 2.5 million people across China. By the end of 2020, it might add 15 to 20 more outlets to its chain. Now under this partnership with VeChain, Sam’s Club will be utilizing a modified version of the ToolChain platform by VeChain. Along with this, it will also use hardware/software sensors and Internet-of-Things technologies in order to upload the data on the blockchain. All the customers will be able to access the detailed information by simply scanning the QR codes on the packaging.

Sam’s Club increased premium food range

According to the announcement, it has also been revealed that Sam’s Club has increased the premium food range. VeChain aims towards fresh food transportation and complete transparency of the information related to food products. Back in 2019, VeChain has also introduced Foodgates which is a tracking system based on blockchain. This tracking system is specifically designed for the food and beverage industries. As the blockchain adoption is increasing rapidly in China, it has also caused a major benefit to all the traceability platform for food and many other commodities.
