According to a <a href="https://iohk.io/en/blog/posts/2021/08/18/djed-implementing-algorithmic-stablecoins-for-proven-price-stability/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">blog post</a> on the official website of Input-Output, IOG, Emurgo, and Ergo have collaborated to develop Djed, an algorithmic stablecoin system.

Because smart contracts design ensures price stability, it can be effortlessly incorporated into a wide range of decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols.

Djed, unlike other major stablecoins, functions as a self-sufficient bank. Its smart contract architecture assures the stability of "base coin" reserves as well as the process of minting/burning stablecoins and reserve coins.

Djed is initially linked to the US dollar, however, it can operate with any fiat currency. Holders of reserve coins, who are responsible for guaranteeing the liquidity of the stablecoin with their inflows, profit from Djed's tokenomics.

IOG advertises Djed as the first "officially certified" stablecoin. All of its features are mathematically proven: price fluctuation limitations, peg robustness, reserve protection, and so on.

Djed was offered in two forms by the developers: Minimal Djed (which functions as the protocol's MVP) and Extended Djed. SigmaUSD, the first Djed mainnet implementation, was launched on the Ergo blockchain. 

Then, comparable instruments were implemented on the testnets of Binance Smart Chain, Avalanche Fuji, Polygon Mumbai, Ethereum Kovan, Ethereum Rinkeby, and RSK.

As Cardano (ADA) nears the release of its smart contract, the implementation of Minimal Djed in Cardano's Plutus has been finished.

Input-Output Charles Hoskinson, the Global CEO of Hong Kong, also came to Twitter to discuss the notion behind Djed, a revolutionary Stablecoin design for DeFi. 

Mr. Hoskinson tweeted a picture of an article that described an "officially confirmed crypto-backed pegged algorithmic stablecoin."

The new protocol is known as Djed, and it functions as an "independent bank," allowing for the pegging to basic fiat money through the purchase and sale of underlying assets. 

It also keeps a portion of its Bitcoin reserves as a hedge against market volatility. This guarantees that the reserve ratio is always larger than one.
