Tesla CEO Elon Musk has been allegedly warned by international hacktivist group, Anonymous due to his tweets that led to the crash of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
“Reading from the comments on your Twitter posts, it seems that the games you have played with the crypto market have destroyed lives. Millions of retail investors were really counting on their crypto gains to improve their lives. Of course, they took the risk upon themselves when they invested, and everyone knows to be prepared for volatility in crypto, but your tweets this week show a clear disregard for the average working person.”
The international hacktivist group has been previously linked for conducting cyberattacks on police departments, politicians, financial companies.
They further claimed that Tesla’s vast majority of income doesn't actually come from selling cars but from government subsidies and selling carbon tax credits for its innovation with green energy.
Last month, Elon Musk announced that Tesla had announced dismissing Bitcoin as payments citing environmental concerns.
The announcement was followed by a meltdown in the crypto market, wiping more than billions in value from the cryptocurrency's peak market value.
Claiming that Tesla has made more money by holding Bitcoin for a few months than by selling cars for years, the video suggested the Bitcoins were likely purchased with money from government subsidies.
“It is now widely believed that you have been forced to denounce your company's involvement with Bitcoin in order to keep that green government money flowing into Tesla's coffers.”
Musk has posted a cryptic tweet that some believe, could be his reply to the threat but then again given Musk's history of his enigmatic tweets, perhaps not.
